According to Health Policy Watch, 50% of people living in Africa do not have access to healthcare and 15 million Africans are pushed into economic hardship due to unforeseen out-of-pocket healthcare expenses annually. Illnesses prominent in African communities both on the continent and in the diaspora such as Malaria, Diabetes, Asthma, Stroke, Hypertension and other Heart conditions often do not receive extensive global research and where research is being carried out, Africans are under-represented both as a particular subset or as experts on the research team, leading to a lack of nuances and little information on how these illnesses affect people of African descent.

This podcast will feature interviews with leading practitioners in the healthcare industry that are of African heritage and whose work is focused on Africa. The podcast will also feature stories of Africans who have leveraged preventive medicines to avert common conditions or healthcare challenges.
